This week we moved to a new house! Yeah! Boo! The house is 20 years newer than our old house and much bigger (3100 sq ft), but we're leaving the nicest neighbors anyone could ever have. We only moved 2 miles away, but in next-door neighbor miles it might as well be a million.
Christian has had a hard time adjusting. He won't let us out of his sight for even a minute. A few days ago I asked him to sit in the car in the driveway while I ran back inside to grab my purse. He was too scared to stay by himself even for less than a minute. He's starting to do better and the neighbor boys are coming to visit tomorrow so that will help.
Raising Christian
In 2007 ago a brand new baby boy burst into my life. My family and I have been hopping ever since. I'm Christian's grandmother and my husband, son, and I take care of him much of the time. His mama has a new job with somewhat irregular hours so we've jumped into a new adventure. These are the stories of how it takes three adults (plus his mama) to raise one little boy.

Wild Man Riding His Bike
Christian spends every Thursday night at our house and I like to take him out in the early evening for some extra play time. Today he wanted to ride his bike. He's started to enjoyed riding it and we went to a neighbor's to ride. Her driveway is a bit longer than ours and has just a slight slope. He discovered that in a snap. By the time I helped push him up the slight hill, he let his feet up and started rolling backwards. Faster and faster right towards the busy street. Whew.
Next, he rolled off the driveway into the grass. Uh oh! What happened? The bike wouldn't go anymore. Christian said,"It out of gaassss."
He hasn't figured out that you have to really push on the pedals.
He also hasn't figured out the brakes so I'm really running next to him and holding onto his shirt.
We practiced stopping and looking for cars. I asked him if we ride bikes in the street without a grownup. Of course he said "Sure!" Put that on the list of things to teach tomorrow.

At the Circus
Elephants, tigers, and ponys kept Christian fascinated at the circus Friday night. I rode an elephant with him around a ring ($10 each), bought him a sword that lights up ($10 more), pizza ($8 bucks) and that's all. We got out pretty easy!
But when the motorcycles and miniature race cars came out, he was just beside himself. He's loved cars from the time his little hand could grasp one. At the toy store he only wants to look at cars. We've watched the "Cars" movie dozens of times. He also loves firetrucks and motorcycles. He calls cycles "cicles" - like popcicles.

In the Beginning
When Christian was born he was, of course, the cutest baby I'd ever seen. He was such a good baby. He ate, slept, and only fussed a bit. This was in sharp contrast to my children. My son had colic from day 1 that lasted for months. We adopted my daughter when she was 8 months old. Before she came to us we were told she slept all night, but from the first day she arrived home she didn't sleep all night for a year.
I thought Christian was the perfect baby .....until colic set in. Lordy, that child could scream and cry and scream and cry for 6 solid hours. We walked, rocked, patted, soothed, and finally drove around over and over and over until the early morning hours.
