Christian spends every Thursday night at our house and I like to take him out in the early evening for some extra play time. Today he wanted to ride his bike. He's started to enjoyed riding it and we went to a neighbor's to ride. Her driveway is a bit longer than ours and has just a slight slope. He discovered that in a snap. By the time I helped push him up the slight hill, he let his feet up and started rolling backwards. Faster and faster right towards the busy street. Whew.
Next, he rolled off the driveway into the grass. Uh oh! What happened? The bike wouldn't go anymore. Christian said,"It out of gaassss."
He hasn't figured out that you have to really push on the pedals.
He also hasn't figured out the brakes so I'm really running next to him and holding onto his shirt.
We practiced stopping and looking for cars. I asked him if we ride bikes in the street without a grownup. Of course he said "Sure!" Put that on the list of things to teach tomorrow.
